REAL/32 NET

REAL/32 NET is a networking system designed specifically to network REAL/32, DOS and Windows based machines. REAL/32 NET integrates tightly with REAL/32 allowing the systems integrator, VAR or developer to build peer-to-peer or client-server based networks. REAL/32 NET is currently available for Ethernet and Arcnet network hardware. REAL/32 NET is available in two modules REAL/32 NET SERVER and REAL/32 NET CLIENT.

REAL/32 NET SERVER

REAL/32 NET SERVER is a highly optimised peer-to-peer network module for REAL/32 based machines. It allows machines to be networked together to form networked multi-user clusters. Shared resources such as disk drives and printers can be transparently accessed across the network. REAL/32 Queues can also be accessed across the network allowing developers to create powerful Client Server applications.

Network Diagram

REAL/32 NET SERVER is a fully featured peer-to-peer network and, unlike other PC networks, does not require dedicated server hardware. REAL/32 NET SERVER uses the multi-user and multi-tasking power of REAL/32 to provide transparent networking for up to 255 computers on a single network. REAL/32 NET SERVER also acts as the server for REAL 32 NET CLIENT based machines.

Fully featured peer-to-peer network.
Transparent access to Disks, Printers and Queues across the network.
No dedicated network server required.
Works with Novell Approved Ethernet NE2000 or SMC Arcnet Cards.
Up to 255 computers on a single network.
Network API available for developers to create REAL/32 NET aware applications.

REAL/32 NET CLIENT

REAL/32 NET CLIENT allows DOS and Windows based computers to become workstations on a REAL/32 NET SERVER based network. REAL/32 CLIENT allows local applications to access the shared resources (disk drives, printers and queues) of any REAL/32 NET SERVER based machine on the network. As well as the local DOS session, each REAL/32 NET CLIENT can have up to eight virtual terminal sessions into a designated host (REAL/32 NET SERVER based) computer. The local DOS sessions can run applications using the local processing power of the PC, whilst utilising the shared resources available on the network. The eight virtual terminal sessions give the facilities of a standard serial terminal connected to the host computer with the added benefit of much greater speed. With this approach, users have the choice of running processor-hungry applications in the local DOS or Windows environment and disk-intensive applications such as accounting or database on the host. REAL/32 NET CLIENT is supplied with a standard Windows network driver allowing the user to take advantage of the built in networking functions within Windows. REAL/32 NET CLIENT is available in 1, 5 and 10 user license packs.Network Diagram

Important Note : REAL/32 Net client is designed for use with DOS, WINDOWS 3.1 and early Windows 95 machines. For Windows NT, 2000, 95, 98 & ME systems IMS recommends using the Winserver product.
